Finding my groove

I realized it had been a long time since I updated the health aspect of this particular category. Oops. My bad. I was doing pretty good until I got hit with a mass of kidney stones, a major infection and a hospital stay followed by two surgeries and a month of complete blah.

That’s done now, thankfully. I’m working out what I can eat now that high oxalate is also out of the question and am back into a routine of regular movement. Because of the downtime the weight loss stalled, but seems to be moving again. 28 pounds down, 25 more to my first major goal. Twenty pounds after that I’ll be back at high school weight.

One major update is that I took myself off Lotrel. I was warned going off it could make my blood pressure spike and cause major issues. I laugh (but even though I do, see your doctor if you plan to do this – don’t sue me if something goes awry!). Within four days I was HYPER. My blood pressure stayed constant and my heart rate went from an average of 100 at any one time to around 78. And I got a sudden burst of extra happiness. So I’m pretty sure the Lotrel was not only raising my heart rate but was also exacerbating last year’s depression episode.

So that’s all good.  In the next few days my neighbor will be joining me in this journey and we get to join a gym, since he wants to do way more than even my decent home gym will provide.

And of course, the fact that I need to go belt shopping also makes me happy.  Visualization helps.
