This is what happens when I’ve got a head cold, watch too much of The Tudors, and get to thinking about countless friends and friends of friends. Â This might be the most depressing song I’ve written in a long time, and that counts Crucified. Â DO NOT READ if you’re enjoying your good mood! Â The music is very old British royal court (naturally) and with thanks to Thomas Wyatt….
“A Memory (Sail Away)”
I reach for you, through a strange and dirty haze
Picture with the moon, of days we’ve lost, those days we played
Your heart unto me, mine unto you, my closest friends
Until the time came to leave, as you do again
Sail away, sail away sweet laughter, just like your beautiful faces
The crowds are gone, don’t forget the rapture we shared in those places
Sail away, take with you my answers, but please to grant me some reprieve
For I can’t be all of myself if you are just a memory
I count the tears, many have fallen upon our faces
You stood with me, unwavered, through all my phases
Your blood and life walk with mine, forever touched, in line and fated
Even as the time comes to leave, as you do again
Sail away, sail away sweet laughter, just like your beautiful faces
The houses are gone, don’t forget the rapture we shared in all our ages
Sail away, take with you my answers, but please to grant me some reprieve
For I can’t be all of myself if you are just a memory
*uber depressing violin solo*
Sail away, sail away sweet laughter, for I can hardly be sober
All of my friends, my family seem to run to their slumber
Sail away, take with you my answers, and this is my only reprieve
I promise to you, you’ll always be more than a memory
